GATE (Gifted and Talented Education)

At Marina del Rey Middle School, we are committed to providing a rigorous and enriching academic experience for all students, including those identified as Gifted and Talented (GATE) and those with high potential for GATE identification. Our GATE program is designed to challenge and support learners through differentiated instruction that nurtures critical thinking, creativity, and advanced academic growth.

Teachers at Marina del Rey MS receive ongoing professional development focused on meeting the diverse needs of gifted learners. Through targeted training, our educators are equipped with strategies to differentiate instruction, promote inquiry-based learning, and foster intellectual engagement for all students.

Identified GATE students, as well as students with high academic potential, are clustered into classes where they are enrolled in honors courses. This approach ensures that students receive instruction aligned with their abilities while learning alongside peers who share similar academic goals. Our GATE program fosters a learning environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and academic excellence.
